Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology

Acta histochemica, a journal of structural biochemistry of cells and tissues, publishes original research articles, short communications, reviews, letters to the editor, meeting reports and abstracts of meetings. The aim of the journal is to provide a forum for the cytochemical and histochemical research community in the life sciences, including cell biology, biotechnology, neurobiology, immunobiology, pathology, pharmacology, botany, zoology and environmental and toxicological research.

This internationally acclaimed series is devoted to original research papers and critical overviews by leaders in the fields of metabolic regulation in normal and cancer cells at the level of molecular biology, enzymic and metabolic regulation, and in clinical investigations.

Arthropod Structure & Development is a journal of arthropod structural biology, development and functional morphology. The aim of the journal is to publish papers in the areas of functional and comparative anatomy and development, with emphasis on the role of cellular organization in organ function.

BBA Bioenergetics covers the area of biological energy transfer and conversion, focusing on the structures and molecular mechanisms of the components of photosynthesis, mitochondrial and bacterial respiration, oxidative phosphorylation, motility and transport. It spans underlying molecular structures and mechanisms, through bioenergetic aspects of cell biology to biomedical and disease aspects of malfunction of energy metabolism.

BBA Biomembranes is focused on membrane structure, function and biomolecular organization, and includes membrane proteins such as receptors and channels, biophysics of biological membranes and model membranes, novel experimental methods, membrane surface properties, ligand interations, transport studies, and membrane dynamics.

BBA General Subjects provides a vehicle for publication of novel and challenging subjects in developing areas of research not yet established, as well as completing BBA's coverage of other important areas of biochemistry and biophysics, such as glycobiology, systems biology, developmental biology and novel compounds.

Covers the novel aspects of lipid biosynthesis and metabolism, including protein modification by lipids, in all organisms. Emphasis is given to the enzymology and molecular biology of the enzymes involved in lipid metabolism. In addition, molecular genetics of the genes involved will be emphasized in the future.Section: 'Lipids in Signalling and Recognition' concentrates on all biochemical and biophysical aspects of lipids and lipid-derived messenger molecules, including their structure, physicochemical properties and transport, regulation and enzymology of their biosynthesis and metabolic inactivation, and the recognition processes underlying their biological activities.
